My married children will be spending Thanksgiving away this year (sad sigh), but I'll still be enjoying my single daughter's company as well as my husband's and six other family guests. We'll be providing the dining room and the turkey, and everyone else will provide other "fixin's" for Thanksgiving dinner. (I highly recommend delegating cooking duties.) Having said that, I completely understand what you are saying about having the house clean and fresh when returning from a trip! The kitchen needs to be clean with dishes washed (and put away) and a fresh garbage bag in the trash can. The bedrooms and bathrooms should also be clean and clutter-free. There is a sense of satisfaction and peace that comes from having a welcoming home, and let's face it, it's just plain nice to come to a house that says, "Welcome home."
